24Billiards Chinese 8-Ball Tournament - Participant Guide

I. Event Details

• Event: 24Billiards 2nd Chinese 8-Ball Tournament
• Date & Time: July 19–20, 2025 (Sat-Sun), starting at 3:00 PM. All 8 tables will be in use.
• Venue: 24Billiards Pool Hall (372 King St N, Waterloo)
• Entry Fee: CAD $35/person (plus tax). ($30 to prize pool, $5 for administration).
• Registration Deadline: July 18, 2025 (Friday)

II. Tournament Rules & Format

1. Table Fees: The losing player of each match is responsible for the full table fee, based on standard venue rates. Membership points cannot be used for tournament table fees. After each match, the loser must settle the fee at the front desk.
2. Format:
   • Round of 32: Double-elimination | Best-of-9 (Race to 5)
   • Round of 16 & Quarter-finals: Single-elimination | Best-of-9 (Race to 5)
   • Semi-finals: Single-elimination | Best-of-13 (Race to 7)
   • Final: Best-of-17 (Race to 9)
3. Equipment: All matches will be played on official Chinese 8-Ball tables using equipment provided by the venue.
4. Refereeing: Matches are self-refereed. In the event of a dispute, players may request a ruling from a tournament official. The tournament organizers' decision is final.
5. Punctuality: Players arriving 15 or more minutes late will forfeit their match. Entry fees are non-refundable in case of forfeiture.

III. Prize Pool & Payouts

1. The tournament will be canceled and all entry fees fully refunded if there are fewer than 12 registered players.
2. If there are fewer than 32 players, the tournament will proceed. The prize money will be adjusted and calculated from the total prize pool, following the approximate payout ratio of 55% (1st), 25% (2nd), 15% (3rd), and 5% (4th).
3. Prize Distribution (based on a full 32-player field):
   Champion: $550 + 100 Membership Points
   Runner-up: $260 + 100 Membership Points
   3rd Place: $100 + 100 Membership Points
   4th Place: $80 + 100 Membership Points
4. 5th-16th Place: 50 Membership Points

Note: Membership points can be used for $100 of table time but hold no cash value and are non-refundable.

IV. Disclaimer & Liability

• This is an open amateur tournament. While organizers will strive to provide a fair and safe environment, they assume no legal liability for consequences arising from participant actions, including but not limited to lateness, rule violations, accidents, or equipment misuse.
• In the event of force majeure (e.g., severe weather, power outage, public health emergencies, government mandates), organizers reserve the right to postpone, alter, or cancel the tournament. No compensation will be offered for such changes.
• By registering, all participants confirm they have read, understood, and agreed to all tournament rules and the terms of this disclaimer.
